THE STRUCTURE OF
THE PROJECT
The structure of the project
is shown in the figure below. The work programme is organised
into ten Workpackages (WPs), established systematically to reflect
both the specific scientific techniques employed and the flow
of information through the project. There are four components
to the structure:
- I the generation of proxy-climate
data from mires and application of new techniques to assess climate
variability and carbon balance over the past 4500 years (WPs
1-4);
- II incorporation of lake-level change
data; high-precision dating of cores, and multi-proxy analyses
of abrupt climate changes (WPs 5-7);
- III time-series analysis of proxy-climate
data, and generation of overall synthesis (WPs 8-9);
- IV dissemination (WP10).
