Learning Support
for Disabled Students Undertaking Fieldwork and Related Activities
Workshop Report:
Providing Learning Support for Blind or Visually-impaired Students
Key Questions and Issues arising
from workshop:
- Aren't geography and related disciplines so inherently visual that they
pose insuperable problems for blind and visually-impaired students?
- Different areas of study and different field activities post contrasting
types and levels of difficulty to blind and visually-impaired students.
- Which 'reasonable adjustments' should be made for blind and visually-impaired
students?
- What are the real learning objectives underlying visually demanding field
activities, and how could they be achieved in other ways?
